CSA is short for "Community Supported Agriculture." In the 1960s, Booker T. Whatley, a black horticulturalist and agriculture professor in Alabama, introduced the concept as a method of garnering community financial support for black farmers, who were being denied loans and federal aid available to white farmers.
This model was adopted widely by small farms all over the country, and remains one of the best ways you can support your farmers while eating seasonal, local, ultra fresh produce. Think of it as your own private veggie club - you purchase a CSA share, then all season long you'll receive a weekly box of veggies from the farm harvested and packed just for you.
Hurry Home Farm has two CSA seasons throughout the year, which reflects our local Central Texas growing climate. You can expect 6-8 different types of veggies and herbs in each weekly box, depending on what's growing. Once in awhile your box might have special items from other local farms, such as mushrooms, potatoes, and more! Pickup options are available in Wimberley and Dripping Springs.
A CSA is a great fit for folks who love to cook at home, are adventurous and excited to try new or unusual veggies, and are willing to plan meals around what's in season. If this isn't you, that's ok! You can also shop with us at the Dripping Springs Farmers Market, Wednesdays at Dripping Springs Ranch Park, beginning October 2026.
Our Fall season CSA runs for 10 weeks, from mid October to just before Christmas.
The season starts with a summery mix of crops - think peppers, summer squash, eggplant, okra, beans, cherry tomatoes, basil, and more. As the weather cools off, you'll start to see leafy greens, broccolini, salad mix, chicories, cauliflower, and all the root vegetables you could hope for.
Our Spring CSA runs for 15 weeks, from late March through early July.
Spring is a little bit like fall in reverse...you'll begin the season with cool weather crops like peas, root veggies, tender herbs, scallions, and many greens/salad options. Once it heats up, spring quickly turns to summer with heat loving crops like squash, tomatoes, beans, melon, etc.
How much does it cost?
$40/week, which is $400 for a Fall share, and $600 for a Spring share. You are welcome to break up the cost of a season into 2-3 payments.
Can I pick out what is in my weekly box?
Nope! It will vary based on what's in season and what we are growing. If you'd prefer to select your own veggies, consider shopping with us at market.
Do you have reduced-cost shares available?
Send us a message and let's chat!
What if I don't like a veggie in my box?
It happens :) if you need some fresh inspiration for how to prepare something don't hesitate to reach out. Otherwise, consider giving it to a friend who might want it!
What if I am out of town for pickup?
If you'll be out of town for a large portion of the CSA season, a CSA share might not be the right fit for you. If you're going to be gone for just one or two weeks, we can help you arrange something (or, you're always welcome to let a friend pick up your box!)
How do I sign up?
Fall CSA sign-ups will go live in August. If you'd like to be notified when sign-ups start, use this form to be added to our contact list!
