They say Wimberley is "a little piece of heaven" and they (whoever they are) sure are right. This time of year has to be one of the most beautiful seasons in Central Texas. The bluebonnets are long gone but the wild bergamot and blanket flowers are creating a sea of color in every field I drive past, and the weather is downright mild in the mornings. It's perfect.
Hurry Home Farm is brand new to this little community. Housed at Montesino Ranch, we'll be breaking ground by the end of this month. Unlike a lot of the rocky terrain out here in hill country, the land we're on has some extra special silty clay which we've taken to referring to as "magic river soil" as the ranch sits right on the Blanco River. With any luck, our first veggies will be out in the world by early this fall. We're taking things slow and steady but can't wait to begin growing the best food we can for a place that has quickly become home.
